The Upper Reading Room where researchers can explore the library collection
‘My research at Chawton House was pivotal in completing my manuscript’
Professor Lisa Kasmer, Clark University, Massachussets
Chawton House is an internationally-renowned research institution, working in partnership with scholars and universities across the globe.
Our Visiting Fellowship programme which ran from 2007-2017 enabled academic researchers from all over the world at every stage of their careers to pursue research on the library collections during a month’s residence in this tranquil location. This programme has now been temporarily suspended but the library collections are still available for anyone who wants to do research here. Find out more here.
The Chawton House Library Series, published in participation with Pickering & Chatto makes many of the rare books in the collection available as new scholarly editions.
