Part of the Government KickStart scheme, your work will be as an Events Assistant to the Communications and Public Engagement Manager and the Front of House Manager, but also have a wider reach across the operations of the whole organisation, including: assisting in the coordination of services relating to planning and delivery of events, which will include out of hours events support, website administration, update social media, mail chimp E-Newsletter, photographic/digital website for events, Art Ticket ticketing website for events, and ‘front-of-house’ administration. The sorts of events which you will assist with include: outdoor theatre and cinema screenings; evening events inside and outside the House; Gothic Week; Christmas programme including the Christmas Lights and Christmas Fayre; writers talks; literary festival; tours, workshops and family activities; vintage, book and plant fairs; online events; and collections internships and Visiting Fellowship schemes.

We are looking for a creative and dynamic individual to join our team and help market our budding business and retail model. Chawton House is an Elizabethan manor in the heart of Hampshire and nestled in the scenic South Downs National Park. Inherited by Jane Austen’s brother Edward, it is now home to a unique collection of early modern women’s writing. Open to the public from 2015, Chawton House also plays host to an interesting array of events for visitors to enjoy, including talks, workshops, Summer, Vintage and Christmas Fayres and an exciting Gothic programme. Part of the role includes assisting the Communications and Public Engagement Manager in marketing these events, with writing copy for social media posts, e-shots, blogs and press releases.
This is an exciting time to join the organisation as Chawton House develops its business and retail model for an ambitious five-year plan. The successful candidate will help develop a campaign, which markets Chawton House as place for weddings, venue hire and potential corporate events, which aid in keeping the organisation financially viable. Particular emphasis will be laid on marketing Dyers Barn, a historic structure on the grounds of Chawton House, as site for venue hire. The post-holder will be responsible for supporting the delivery of this business marketing campaign.
Job Type: Part time, two days a week 9:30-4:30 Days T.B.C
We are looking for someone with cooking experience to come join our busy tearoom environment in the stunning setting of Chawton House.
Your duties will include: Prepping food for service such as salads, vegetables, sandwiches etc; baking cakes, scones and traybakes; cleaning before and after during the day; keeping the kitchen tidy, washing up; helping to serve customers; clearing and cleaning tables; stock control and temperature control.
Personal requirements: Having a good understanding of hygiene and allergens within the kitchen and business environment, as well as cross contamination.
And have good personal hygiene.
You will be willing to take your food hygiene level 2 or already hold a level 2 hygiene certificate.
