In her talk, she makes the case for reading Austen’s first finished novel, Northanger Abbey, as a dialogue with her last, Sanditon. About Janet Todd:

Feminist scholar and former president of Lucy Cavendish College, University of Cambridge, Janet Todd is the biographer of Jane Austen, Aphra Behn and Mary Wollstonecraft. Her recent books include the memoir Radiation Diaries and the fiction, A Man of Genius. Her latest novel, Don’t You Know There’s a War On? came out in March 2020.
