Stay at The North Wing Apartment

Nestled in an historic Elizabethan Manor House once owned by Jane Austen’s brother, this unique apartment exudes character, with its uneven floors and ceilings and quirky furniture creating a distinctive charm. The North Wing provides a warm, cosy and serene space in the stunning Hampshire countryside, with full access to the Gardens and Parkland. An ideal escape all year round in a location where the echoes of the past meet the comfort of the present.

The Space

In The North Wing apartment, there are two bedrooms downstairs: bedroom 1 is the largest, opposite the kitchen. The mattress is memory foam and will give you a fantastic night’s sleep. Bedroom 2, our ‘botanical room’, is opposite the downstairs bathroom. There is an attic bedroom (bedroom 3) upstairs to the left of the stairs. All bedrooms are doubles, and also have a comfortable chair and clothes storage. The kitchen is downstairs, and fully equipped. There are two shower rooms – one on each floor. There is also a sitting room on the top floor, with books and board games for you to enjoy.

Please note that we’re in the midst of giving our flat a fresh new look, so some of the rooms are newly decorated, whilst others have not yet been upgraded. What the Apartment lacks in sleek finishes, it makes up for in warmth and character. Expect a touch of nostalgia combined with the comfort of a well-loved space.

Guest Access

The Apartment is in the main Chawton House building, but separated from the main House. You are welcome to visit the House during opening hours (entry included in the rental fee), but it is alarmed after hours. You have free range of the grounds during your stay.

Other Things to Note

The entrance to the apartment is up a steep and narrow flight of stairs so unfortunately is not suitable for those with mobility issues.
