Launching a brand-new guided tour that highlights Austen’s connection to Chawton House.
“I went up to the Gt. House between three and four, and dawdled away an hour very comfortably”
Jane Austen to her sister Cassandra, 13 June, 1814.
Join us on a brand new guided tour to find out about Austen’s connection to ‘The Great House’. Led by a member of the Curatorial team, you’ll explore the House that Jane Austen knew, from the Parkland and Gardens she walked to the table she dined at and the portraits that appear in her novels. Interspersed with selections from her novels and letters, and including books that she read from her brother’s library, and women writers that she was inspired by, this is a unique opportunity to delve into the world that shaped one of England’s greatest novelists.
Whether you are a lifelong admirer of her work or new to her literary genius, this tour brings Jane Austen’s era to life. Advance booking is essential, as places are limited.
Tickets: £15 (includes entry to the House & Gardens)
Throughout the year, we will offer monthly ticketed tours to the public, and this tour is also available as an option for group bookings.
