This October Half Term, Chawton House transforms into a Gothic playground of mystery and imagination.

Cursed creatures lurk around every corner – from witches and the dining dead, to skeletons in closets and veiled figures hidden behind secret doors. Let your imagination run wild as you explore the House with dreadful suspicions of your own…

In the House, two brand-new kids trails, designed by Lois Kemp-Harper, will keep young visitors busy as they uncover the secrets of the House:

  • Gothic Pieces
    Inspired by Jane Austen’s Northanger Abbey, follow in Catherine Morland’s footsteps as you solve the riddles, locate the objects they conceal, and piece together the secret password.

  • Phantom Faces
    The walls of Chawton House are lined with faces from the past, each with a story to tell. Can you find them all – and unearth their tales?

 In the Gardens, seek out the hidden cauldrons and answer the spooky questions correctly and claim your prize
