Description
Chawton House as I left
Louisa Albani (b.1966)
Facsimilie print of the original collage made with inks, pen on paper. 2019 (on display at Chawton House)
This collage was one of a set of three works created by artist Louisa Albani in response to her visit to Chawton House in 2019 when she was setting up her exhibition on Mary Wollstonecraft and the French Revolution.
Albani combines pen and ink drawing with collage to create richly-detailed scenes that blur the boundaries between the observed and the imagined. She takes inspiration from the house’s architecture and grounds; Jane Austen’s relationship with its surroundings; and the other early women writers brought to the fore by Chawton House’s collection.
This is your chance to own a facsimile copy of Albani’s work.
- Print is unframed and will be posted in a cardboard-backed envelope.
