Thursday 29th May 2025 to Sunday 1st June 2025
Venue: Chawton House
29 May & 1 June, 11am
Join a knowledgeable Chawton House Garden Volunteer on a walk of Chawton House’s beautiful parkland and estate.
Enjoy one of our free outdoor tours and step into the living landscape that inspired Jane Austen. As you walk through the historic parkland, you’ll discover how the grounds were shaped over centuries—from 18th-century landscaping to today’s conservation work—while soaking up sweeping views and stories rooted in the land.
The walk will take you across open grassy parkland and gentle slopes, with no formal paths, so be sure to dress for the weather and wear sturdy footwear. The route may be exposed in places, so bring a waterproof or sunhat depending on the weather!
Tours begin at 11am from the Tea Shed, located at the bottom of the main drive. Whether you’re a nature lover, a history enthusiast, or simply looking for a refreshing countryside stroll, this is a unique way to experience Chawton House and its surrounding estate.
Tickets are free but booking is essential as places are limited.
