Recently we received another very generous bespoke adoption for our Adopt a Book scheme. As the book in question is currently on display as part of our “Emma at 200” exhibition, we have recorded the fact that Gina Heath King has adopted the second American edition of “Emma” on the card next to the exhibit.
“My choice to adopt the 1833 Philadelphia version of Emma was an easy decision – especially in the bicentenary year of its first publication in England and the US. Emma has been a long-time favorite of mine as well as a component of my graduate work. As an American and a Bluestocking member of the North American Friends of Chawton House Library, I am pleased to have adopted this work currently on display as part of the Emma At 200 exhibition at Chawton House Library, and hope others will be encouraged to do the same.”
Thank you Gina, for your generosity!
