Spend a summer’s day at Chawton House immersed in the rhythms, routines and inspirations of Jane Austen’s world.

This special small-group experience invites you to step into Austen’s daily life through reading, walking, conversation and creativity. Begin with a Regency-style welcome in the atmospheric Maids’ Sitting Room, where letters await your arrival and manuscripts reveal the domestic details that shaped daily life at Chawton.
Enjoy a House tour and private collections view exploring Austen’s connections to Chawton House, followed by a guided estate walk inspired by her ‘thinking time’ outdoors, with quotations and prompts to spark your own reflections.
After a Regency-inspired lunch, choose from a selection of hands-on afternoon activities: design your own calling card, try your hand at letter writing and folding, create your own silhouette keepsake, or enjoy simple needlework inspired by period accomplishments. You’ll also have the chance to discover curated Austen reading spots around the House and gardens, each linked to one of her novels.
The day concludes with tea, coffee, or a glass of mead in the Great Hall, before a lively private theatricals finale with scenes from Pride and Prejudice.
Perfect for Austen enthusiasts looking to experience Chawton House in a new way, this immersive day offers a rare chance to slow down, socialise and see the world through Austen’s eyes.
Tickets: £50 (inclusive of all catering and activities)
