Saturday 28th November 2026
Venue: Chawton House
11am – 3pm, break for lunch at 1pm, Billiards Room.
Spend a creative day designing your own unique Advent calendar inspired by the house and grounds of Chawton House.
Join local artist Kate Davis in this advent calendar making workshop is inspired by the house and gardens of Chawton House, where you can make a beautiful advent calendar to gift to someone else, or keep for yourself!
An advent calendar template of the House will be provided for you to personalise with colour and detail using pen, pencil, and paint. Then decide what surprises you want to create when each window is opened — perhaps small photographs, use some of the pre-drawn images provided, pen a line of literature or gather some inspiration from a walk around the grounds and the many rooms of Chawton House.
If you would like to add a personal touch to your calendar, bring along any pictures you would like to add behind the doors. Please make sure these are printed before you arrive.
By the end of the day, you will take home a finished Advent artwork, ready to enjoy from the first day of December.
No previous experience is needed — only enthusiasm in the pleasure of making!
Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided throughout the session.
You will have a half an hour break for lunch at 1pm. We do have an onsite tearoom, but it can get very busy, so we encourage you to bring your own lunch.
Tickets: £30pp including House and Gardens entry, all materials and refreshments.
