Monday 31st August 2026

Venue:

Grab your teddy and join us for an afternoon of picnics, games and bear-themed fun in the gardens on Bank Holiday Monday!

Bring along your favourite teddy (or borrow one of ours) and find a spot on the lawn for your picnic. We’ll have some picnic blankets available, and you’re very welcome to bring your own food – or pre-order one of our children’s picnic bags to collect when you arrive.

Throughout the afternoon, children can try their hand at hula hooping, poi, skipping, croquet and giant garden games, or settle down with bear-themed books and colouring activities. Our Chawton House Bear Hunt will send you searching around the garden for hidden bears – find them all to claim a gingerbread bear prize!

If your teddy is feeling a little under the weather, bring them along to the Teddy Hospital, where they can have a check-up, be weighed and measured and receive their very own health pass.

What’s happening?

2.20pm – Teddy Bear Games
Join us for Teddy Bear Musical Statues, the Teddy Balance Challenge and a game of Teddy Says.

2.45pm – Teddy Sports Day
Ready, steady, go! Take part in an egg-and-spoon race, sack race, teddy-under-the-arm race and our Teddy Bear Picnic Relay.

3.10pm – Chawton House Bear Hunt & Free Play
Explore the garden to track down our hidden bears, or relax on the lawn with games, books, colouring and activities.

3.45pm – Chawton House Bear Parade
Bring your teddy along for our end-of-afternoon parade. We’ll be celebrating the smallest, biggest, oldest, best-dressed, most well-travelled and most well-loved bears, with certificates to take home.

Tickets & picnics

Children go FREE! Adults simply pay normal garden admission @ £8pp. Our Teddy Bears’ Picnic is designed with children aged 10 and under in mind, with plenty for younger children to enjoy. Older siblings are very welcome too! Booking essential.

Children’s picnic bags are available to pre-order for £6 and collect on arrival, or bring your own family picnic. Water and squash will be available throughout the afternoon.

All children must be accompanied and supervised by a responsible adult throughout the event.

Come for the games, come for the picnic, or simply bring Teddy along for a Bank Holiday afternoon in the garden!
