Wednesday 14th October 2020

Venue: Online

Are you looking for a creative outlet? Whether you’re a complete beginner or a confident writer looking to take your poetry to the next level, this class will have something for you. Writer, editor and university lecturer, Sinéad Keegan, will set exercises inspired by the archives at and the history of Chawton House and then run an interactive poetry class once a month from August to October. You’ll have the opportunity to ask questions, share your work, or just sit back, write and listen from the comfort of your own home. Each session will have a set theme and the exercise will go out to participants in advance so you can have a try before the session. During the session, Sinéad will discuss theme-related ideas about poetry and also give you practical tips to incorporate these techniques into your own writing. There is no requirement to speak or share your work in the
sessions although there will be time if you wish to do so.

Session 3: Wednesday 14th October, 5:30 – 6:30pm (BST)

Memory – Looking back to childhood, last year, before Covid-19, or maybe just yesterday. We’ll look at ways of invoking memory and bringing memories to life in poetry. In this session we’ll look at ways to craft your memories into poems that hold meaning for readers beyond you.

There are limited spaces so you will need to book your place in advance. The cost is £10.00 per session.
