Come and build a scarecrow at Chawton House, ready for the Chawton Gardening Clubs Annual Scarecrow Competition!
Join us on the first week of the summer holidays to make your unique scarecrow, ready to display in the Chawton Gardening Clubs annual Scarecrow Competition, or to take home and display in your own garden! The theme of the competition this year is ‘Movie Character’ so come prepared with your favourite characters in mind.
From the Chawton Gardening Clubs schedule hand book: ‘Those entering the scarecrow competition will need to enter using the entry form on page 15 of the schedule and display their scarecrow in and around Chawton village no later than Thursday 23rd July. This will enable a committee member time to photograph it before the show. An exhibit card can then be placed as above on the day of the show, next to the matching photograph in the village hall, ready for judging. All scarecrows must be placed in the village responsibly and securely and removed by Sunday 2nd August.’

All materials will be provided, but please feel free to bring your own supplies to dress them up in such as hats, t-shirts, pillowcases and any other decorations!
