Saturday 24th June 2023 to Sunday 25th June 2023
Venue: Chawton House
As part of the 20th anniversary programme, we’re hosting our first annual Garden Festival, celebrating the grounds when they are at their most beautiful. Set within South Downs National Park, an area of natural beauty, Chawton House’s Garden Festival is a wonderful opportunity to visit the stunning grounds as a host of garden events takes place. From garden surgeries, plant sales and seed swaps to guided garden tours, demonstrations, workshops and kids trails, there’s something for everyone. The programme also highlights the Library’s incomparable botanical collection, and how it connects to the historically restored Gardens. Known to Jane Austen as the ‘Great House’, like visitors today, she found peace and tranquillity in the grounds, inspired by her walks in the gardens of Chawton House.

A special exhibition on Botanical Women will be on display in Library from Monday 19 and included in admission price.
