Venue: Chawton House

Tour: 1pm, Afternoon Tea: 2.30pm

Join one of our sell-out Jane Austen 250 guided tours, followed by a luxurious Afternoon Tea.

“I went up to the Gt. House between three and four, and dawdled away an hour very comfortably”
Jane Austen to her sister Cassandra, 13 June, 1814.

Join us on a guided tour created specially for Jane Austen’s 250th birthday to find out about her connection to ‘The Great House’. Led by a knowledgeable guide, you’ll explore the House that Jane Austen knew, from the Parkland and Gardens she walked to the table she dined at and the portraits that appear in her novels. Interspersed with selections from her novels and letters, and including books that she read from her brother’s library, and women writers that she was inspired by in our JA250 exhibition, Sisters of the Pen, this is a unique opportunity to delve into the world that shaped one of England’s greatest novelists.

This tour will be followed by a Pride and Prejudice-inspired traditional afternoon tea, with fizz available to purchase separately on the day.
