Venue: Chawton House

10.30-11.45am

Join one of our knowledgeable volunteer guides on a guided tour of Chawton House to discover our rich history.

Learn about the evolution of the Estate from Medieval stopping point to Elizabethan Manor. Discover our connection with Jane Austen and find out how we became home to a unique collection of early women’s writing.

Your guide will point out some of the House’s most quirky and fascinating features, from secret compartments and witch marks to heraldry and hidden graffiti. You will learn about the people in the paintings, take in views across the historic gardens from the Oak Room, and round off your time with us with a visit to the atmospheric Library.

The tour will commence at 10.30am and last 1 hour 15 minutes.

Tickets: £10 | £5 for Midweek Roast ticket holders.
