Join us at Chawton House to celebrate the beauty of snowdrops and the  achievements of our botanical women.

Delve into the fascinating world of literature and horticulture and discover the first signs of Spring as we explore snowdrops at Chawton House in the Gardens and the Library collection.

Start your journey with a special viewing in the Library led by Chief Executive Katie Childs, who will guide you through the rich collection of botanical works by women, focusing on their depictions of snowdrops. Explore the remarkable stories behind the books and enjoy their beautiful illustrations.

After the library talk, Head Gardener Julia Weaver will lead you on a guided tour, pointing out the snowdrops. Discover the diverse array of snowdrop varieties and gain valuable Spring gardening tips from our expert.

Tickets: £15 (includes tea/coffee on arrival)

Access requirements:

Tea and coffee will be served on arrival, and the Library talk will commence at 11am.

Please note that the walk in the Garden will take roughly 40 minutes and will involve steps and steep slopes outside. Paths may be muddy. This event will go ahead if rain is forecast, so please dress appropriately for the weather conditions. Should the weather be deemed extreme, we will contact all ticket holders as soon as possible to notify them of that the event has been cancelled and refunds will be processed immediately.
