Sunday 3rd May 2026 to Monday 4th May 2026

Venue: Chawton House

Let their imaginations run wild this May Bank Holiday Weekend, with FREE arts and crafts for the whole family in the Dyer’s Barn.

Sunday 3rd May & Monday 4th May, 10am-4pm, Dyer’s Barn.

What’s On

10am-4pm: Arts & Crafts in the Barn – explore a range of arts and crafts suitable for children of all ages in our Dyer’s Barn, located at the end of the Gosport Road car park at the end of our driveway. Let their imaginations run wild, and let them make a mess away from home with a huge variety of activities ranging from painting, to sewing and colouring.

Inspired by our current exhibition HomeMade Histories: Letters, Art & Embroidery, kids can create their own version of the beautiful tapestry that is on display by painting and drawing on giant strips of paper, stretching across the room, turning it into one big collaborative masterpiece. With plenty of creative tools to use, they can add anything from bright patterns and handprints, to their favourite animals and flowers. There will also be a range of smaller activities, like sewing into wooden flowers, colouring sheets and many other spring related crafts!

The barn is situated on the Parkland, so kids can run to their hearts content and let off some steam! All activities are free but donations are welcome, we will have a donations box at the barn. If you wish to visit the house and gardens, you can purchase your tickets at our Tea Shed or at the house. We will have a small table of refreshments that can be purchased at the Barn, including tea, coffee and some drinks for the little ones. Feel free to bring a packed lunch with you.

Make sure to wear something you don’t mind getting messy, and come along to enjoy the bank holiday fun! Children must be supervised at all times.

No need to book, just come along and get stuck in!
