Friday 8th May 2020

Venue: Chawton House

Are you holding a ‘Stay at Home’ street party for VE Day? Many people will be celebrating the 75th anniversary by hosting individual celebrations in their own home and Chawton House would love to help you by providing the treats!

On Friday 8th May you will be able to receive or collect a delicious home-made 1940s-themed Afternoon Tea in a box comprising of:

  • A selection of savoury treats: mini sausage rolls, mini sausage and egg pies and cheese tartlets
  • Homemade potato scones with butter, cheddar cheese and rhubarb chutney (made in a ‘grow your own’ spirit with produce from the Chawton House Garden)
  • A mini cake selection including jam tarts, carrot cake and orange cookies.
  • Your choice of Teapigs tea, coffee or hot chocolate (we supply the ingredients, you supply the hot water!)
  • An additional option to include a bottle of celebratory sparkling wine (for an extra £14.95)

Also included will be an information pack about life at Chawton in WWII, including anecdotes, images and some recipes for you to try recreating the box at home.

The cost is, a very reasonable, £12.50 per person, + £1 per box delivery charge (available for GU34 postcodes only) or the option to collect.
