Nearly 1000 visitors came to our inaugural Christmas Fayre

A wonderful day was had by all at our first ever Christmas Fayre! Despite the dreary weather, almost 1000 visitors crossed the threshold of Chawton House, eager to engage in some festive cheer! The team were hard at work all week decking the halls with traditional Christmas decorations, using trees and greenery from the estate.

Traditional parlour games included cup-and-ball

What the day held

The Great Hall and Dining Room were packed with shoppers browsing the stalls, and visitors were queuing up to sample our festive menu in the Old Kitchen tearoom. Besides the stalls, there were plenty of yuletide activities on offer.

Our Georgian hostess

Children and adults alike were delighted to decorate short bread and play traditional parlour games before getting a chance to meet Father Christmas himself. Guests were also treated to carol singing by the children from Anstey Junior School throughout the day.

Father Christmas himself!
