Our digital Summer Series opens with renowned Austen scholar Janet Todd, whose edition of Jane Austen’s final unfinished novel Sanditon, came out with Fentum Press in 2019. In her talk, she makes the case for reading Austen’s first finished novel, Northanger Abbey, as a dialogue with her last, Sanditon.

Feminist scholar and former president of Lucy Cavendish College, University of Cambridge, Janet Todd is the biographer of Jane Austen, Aphra Behn and Mary Wollstonecraft. Her recent books include the memoir Radiation Diaries and the fiction, A Man of Genius. Her latest novel, Don’t You Know There’s a War On? came out in March 2020. You can hear Janet reading from it here.
